19th Novembertagung, Holbæk, Denmark, November 5-9, 2008

The 19th Novembertagung on the History of Mathematics will take place at "Søminestationen" near Holbæk in Denmark from November 5 (arrival) to November 9, 2008.

The organizers are: Laura Turner, Mikkel Willum Johansen, Uffe T. Jankvist, and Henrik Kragh Sørensen.

A registration site has been set up - deadline for registration is October 8, 2008.

We will meet at Café René, Axeltorv 6 near the Copenhagen Central Station on Wednesday November 5 from 5pm. A bus will leave for Holbæk at 7pm.

International participants flying into Kastrup Airport will find it convenient to take either a train or the metro to Copenhagen Central Train Station.

The conference ends on Sunday November 9 when all participants will be taken to the Copenhagen Central Train Station at 3.30pm.

Participants who wish to arrive later or depart earlier can make travel arrangements to or from Holbæk Train Station where they can be picked up or dropped off.

The conference fee of DKK 1500 covers room and board for the duration of the conference. It is to be paid in cash (Danish kroner) upon arrival. Beverages can be bought at shop-prices, so bring additional cash.

Søminestationen provides dovets, bed linen, and towels.

Søminestationen is located in beautiful forrest surroundings near the fjord, but the Danish weather is notoriously unreliable, so bring practical clothing for walks and excursions.

A provisional programme has been made available. A final programme and a book of abstracts will be made available together with an introduction to the theme.

The Novembertagung is supported by PHIS: The Danish Research Training Programme of Philosophy, History of Ideas and History of Science. PHIS also provides a limited number of travel subsidies for PhD students.

Additional financial support has been secured from: Center for the Philosophy of Nature and Science Studies, University of Copenhagen, Department of Science, Systems and Models, University of Roskilde, and Department of Science Studies, University of Aarhus.
