Help Henrik
In his research, Henrik encounters numerous problems and open
questions. This list contains some of those questions. It is compiled with the hope that
some Internet surfers will be in possession of (partial) answers to some of the questions
and be kind enough to establish contact with me using one of the ways described on the main
page,
www.henrikkragh.dk.
- Any
and all biographical information
concerning one
Mr. Louis Olivier, who published about a dozen papers in the first three volumes
of Crelle’s
Journal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik, 1826-28.
- Information
on the
original publishing
of Robert Storm Petersen’s
Flue: “Livet er svært, men matematik er sværere”. It was included in the collection
107 Fluer, published 1950, but the drawing is likely to have been published
in Berlingske Tidende before that.
- Information
on
the fate of the Weierstrass prize
instituted by the King of Sweden at the initiative of
Gösta Mittag-Leffler
to be handed out at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Stockholm
in 1916. I am well aware of the announcement of the prize, but as the ICM never happened
in 1916, it was apparently not awarded.
- Table
of contents
of the third issue of the
European Mathematical Society Newsletter. Thanks to the generous help of
Åsvald Lima, I have now had access to the first 16 newsletters, except for this third one.
